Opihi Ko’ele statement lei/waist belt

Kō‘ele ‘opihi (cellana talcosa) is the largest species of native Hawaiian limpet. It is a prized, edible delicacy known for its size (up to 4 inches) and rich taste. Each shell is found washed ashore on the island of Hawai‘i, none which are harvested live.

This piece consists of 15 shells which have been sanded by hand until smooth and shining, then filled with resin for durability. The lei/belt is adjustable measuring up to 34 inches and is made with 14kt gold filled material. Chain can be extended upon request.
